Our Story

It all started with a truck & a dream

The story of the birth of one of the most innovative food trucks with the most savory mouthwatering menus is unlike most start-up restaurants these days. While most of today's restaurant entrepreneurs have been in the industry for years, Matt is an Army Veteran who decided to follow his dreams and do what he loves most, creating one-of-a-kind recipes that take your taste buds on a roller coaster ride straight to Heaven! 

Now he and his wife, Maria, have parked the truck and are excited to be expanding their popular menu of gourmet melts and healthy food creations at a new restaurant at Cosner's Corner in Fredericksburg, VA. With whimsical decor, an amazing selection of Virginia beers, and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, they see the "new" Gourmeltz as a friendly gathering place with healthy options for the entire family.

 

Raised in Woodbridge, VA, Matt decided to join the Army at the age of 17 to serve his country. After his enlistment, he chose to continue service to his country as a security contractor abroad as well as an Intelligence Analyst. After multiple tours to both Iraq & Afghanistan, Matt decided it was time to share his gift of culinary masterpiece creations with the world!

 

Like most red-blooded Americans, Matt grew up on grilled cheese sandwiches and always loved when his Grandmother would add something to it that was unconventional. Those delicious memories and creative skills in the kitchen sparked the idea to bring the world, Gourmeltz. Though inspired by Grandmas everywhere, these are not Grandma's grilled cheese sandwiches. Gourmeltz uses the freshest ingredients paired with the highest quality cheeses to take you on a trip down memory lane before you realize you have never tasted something so delicious and unique ever!
